Welcome to the Blog of Smiggles.
Who are you Even?
This is mainly a gaming blog however there are a handful of artsy shit and humor thrown in from time to time.
Keep in mind this is a personal blog and I don't intend to take anything too seriously.
Never be afraid to ask or notify me about something. I'm pretty chill.
Just have fun.
Here’s a game that went completely under the radar. Baten Kaitos Origins was an RPG released for the game cube in 2006. This game is one of my personal favorites and I simply can’t get enough of it. Rarely do I replay a game, but so far I’ve done this almost half a dozen times. Mind you it’s a long game, as with most RPGs. Yet not many know of it, its debut being over shadowed by bigger name games.
What’s different about this game and actually what put most people off from it was the card based fighting style. While at first it is incredibly difficult to understand and use, once you figure it out it is an amazing amount of fun. You build up large combos and then watch them play out on your enemies in aesthetic wonder.
You play as the spirit inside of the main character and guide him with your choices. Being a prequel there are some references to the initial game Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean, however they don’t dent the gameplay whatsoever.
The art is fantastic and the story line immersive. On several occasions I felt my heart twinge, blood boil, and pulse accelerate. Although I’m not a huge RPG game player so I may not know what a predictable story line is as far as RPGs go. But I can say I was shocked many times over.
If you ever get the chance I highly recommend picking this game up no matter how outdated the game cube is. This was worth the money I spent on it.
